Re: Replacement for Usher S520 bass/mid driver

I hate that sort of reply if no link is offered. Yes I know it is easy to find but it annoys the whatever out of me.

Sorry, Richard, just having a rant. ......................blood pressure is...

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

Ha, you are particularly right about the choice of resistor and this argument could be extended to the shunted pot application, because of the difference different resistors bring to the sound and...

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

Andy, within the diy circles I inhabit, I have not heard anyone discussing the TKD pots. I have however heard/read many tributes for the Tocos pots. Unfortunately, these don’t seem to have a remote...

Re: Wanted: 10H/180mV choke suitable for WAD 2A3PSE

Ok, I wasnít planning to go to Tonbridge this year. but your post has prompted me. Iíll give it some thought and discuss with Nigel.

Iíve got the choke sorted. Bought the HFC one Richard...

Re: Tweaking Sextets.

Hmm, I don’t know but I suspect none of those fat cables ever had fat copper in them. The fatness IMHO was simply what covered the wire, or the dialectic as no doubt the associated advertising will...

Re: Wanted: 10H/180mV choke suitable for WAD 2A3PSE

Just checked the HFS measurements regarding the 2A3 PSE chassis. It could tightly fit. As said, I might need to cut a hole in the base plate, but this would only be to accommodate a few MM of depth...

Re: Wanted: 10H/180mV choke suitable for WAD 2A3PSE

Yes, of course you are right regarding no point in fitting an under-rated choke. I’ve got some feelers out for something that fits the need, but if that falls through, I’ll buy the HFC item. John has...

Re: Wanted: 10H/180mV choke suitable for WAD 2A3PSE

Thanks again, Richard. It looks likely that I have found an original, but Iíll consider the one you have suggested given itís better spec. There is not much extra space in the chassis, but if size is...

Re: Wanted: 10H/180mV choke suitable for WAD 2A3PSE

Thank you, Richard. That is so helpful and probably explains the scorch.

I’ll start searching for a choke with the specs you recommend. I need to talk to Majestic. Sowter appear to be too big for...

Wanted: 10H/180mV choke suitable for WAD 2A3PSE

I’ve started a rebuild of my WAD 2A3 PSE. My existing choke has obviously been running overly hot as the paper wrapping around the coil is very scorched. Does anyone here have an available...

WAD 2A3 PSE rebuild

Ooo, Iím a bit excited. The guy I sold my heavily modded Pre/Phono/PSU II to a couple of years ago has offered it for sale back to me and Iím buying it. This means I need to re-assemble my 2A3 PSE...

Re: Pre Amp wire

Maybe Ali, but I suspect when used with the shunt pot mod, it makes little difference because the wiper is not passing signal.

Re: Phono II advice Please!

I recall that back in the day when upgrading PSU II, several of us used ceramic caps on the PCB underside to bypass all the large PSU caps.

Re: K5881 Mk1 mods

I suppose the question is, after you carried out the alterations, how did it sound to you? Did you think your mods made an improvement over standard or otherwise?
