Re: Update needed for heater bridge rectifier mod

Hi Bob, Yes indeed, it may be system or amplifier dependent. It was excellent on my Kit88 driving large transmission lines with noticeable (and measurable) lowering of hum (see Part 1 for the...

Re: KEL34 just acquired

Hi yes I'd build it all as standard first to check all is well. It looks like it's wired as single input with vol control so a CDp/tuner will be ideal for a listen. Keep an eye on the EL34s for any...

Re: KEL34 just acquired

Hi, yes but a fair bit of work involved as you'd need 4 pots in place of the R3/R5 bias divider and to include sockets to probe for voltage during adjustment.

Disconnect the 330k gridleaks at...

Re: KEL34 just acquired

It seems like an attempt to convert an integrated Kel34 into just power amp as all phono inputs bar 1 are disconnected as is selector switch. Personally I would use 1 phono pair to bypass as Power...

Re: Missing information in an FAQ thread

Hi again Greg, by copying and pasting into a text editor I found there should be 3 images. I've found the last missing one but as the bb only allows 2 images per post have split this FAQ into 2...

Improving the DC Heater Supply - Part 1; KIT88, KEL34, KEL84

KIT88, KEL34, KEL84

These amps are built on PCBs so the following way of making up "daughter" boards was found easiest. There`s quite a bit to it but if you fancy a go it should be worthwhile. In...

Improving the DC Heater Supply - Part 2; KIT34, KIT6550, 300BPSE, 300BPP

KIT34, KIT6550, 300BPSE, 300BPP

The idea is the same but these amps are built on tag boards so with replacement of the bridge with 4 schottky diodes and a little re-arrangement of the components...

Hi Greg, I'm not sure if there was any more text but have attached what I think were the original drawing and photo to show the practical construction

Yes mine behaves similarly but almost always posts if I wait.

Yes, I've not seen a setting for a time limit on making a post per se, but session timeout is 30 mins so if I get distracted...

Re: Windows 10 Pro

Did our laptop and PC to 1803 and both are fine using Firefox. It's definitely quicker opening web sites, for whatever reason, perhaps new OS or the installation clearing some clutter etc

Re: Message upload hanging

My posts sometimes hang but if I sit and wait they usually post. They sometimes time out and are lost before posting so anything long I do in open office first then copy in. So, sometimes not perfect...

Re: SME & Garrard

This pic is dated 2009 when my friend Gerry B brought round his 401 in a solid wooden plinth for a listen and to compare cartridges. He had a new Jelco 750 arm and Denon 103R on it. My TD 160 Super...
