Re: Is there any body out there

My apologies for the "dick" comment if it was offensive towards your father. Of course, if you inherited the "priapus" gene then please accept my congratulations.

Re: 832a PSE

Thanks, Phil. I was planning on using a SS power supply as in the 832 amps we both have. I also liked the 317CC source mod and will likely do something similar for the 829. You might recall that I...

Re: 832a PSE

Looks like the diyaudio.com schematic with a few values changed. I'd love to build the big brother to the diyaudio.com 832 amp. Can you post some voltages at key points? What kind of power are you...

Re: For the hesitant novice

Just remember that if that 6.3v output is AC and the relay coil is 6VDC you will need to rectify the AC and smooth it with a capacitor in order to keep the relay from chattering at 50 Hz (that is...

Re: For the hesitant novice

the voltage tolerance is typically +/- 10%, so anything between 5.4v and 6.6 volts is within spec for a 6 volt relay. That said, read the spec sheet for the particular relay. 5v may be sufficient to...

Re: For the hesitant novice

I'm in the USA, but to put it in perspective, EVEN RADIO SHACK STOCKS AND SELLS 5VDC RELAYS and they usually don't have even the most common components. I'd suggest looking a bit harder. You should...

Re: For the hesitant novice

How about installing a 2 pole relay in your power amp and running the wires from the relay coil to your power supply and energizing the relay coil from the power switch on the power supply? you could...

Re: WAD 300B PP clone Mains Tx buzz

MIx up some 2 part epoxy, rough up the inside of the bell end cover with a dremel tool and your favorite burr, and then pour in about 1/16" of epoxy. It self levels and you can reassemble the amp in...

Re: Kidney Stones

Dude, that sucks. I had stones that decided to pass the day after my wife got home from having our son after 22 hours of labor and then a C-section. Since one of us had to be coherent and there was...

Re: Computer Advice Please

17 inch monitors look great until you try to use one on an airplane. I hate my 17" display when I fly. If you plan to use it while on an airplane I'd not go over a 14" display.

Re: any ideas for a BOBA type amp.... calling DTB

As I recall Andrew Ivimey stated that the 832 in single end configuration didn't sound very good. Push-pull sounds really nice though.

Re: Kel84 for repair.

While you're at it, skip the electrical tape. It gets nasty as it ages. use heat shrink tubing instead.

Re: Kel84 for repair.

put AC on the primary of the output transformers (24 volts or so) and measure the volts on the secondary. The impedance ratio goes as the square of the voltage ratio.
