Re: Punchy bass

Hi Glue, One of my ears is named after you.

Anyway, how does one know if one has too much stuffing or too little and what in your opinion is the best stuffing to use. I followed the kit...

Re: Sudden Loss of Hearing.

Hi Bob,
Yes, it would seem that half the population has, or has had episodes with their lugs. Un my case the treatment with steroids has proven useless, next step will be a scan to see if a tumour,...

Sudden Loss of Hearing.

Hi,
Just a word about above. Forewarned is forearmed. I am 68 years old and live in the Canaries.
About 3 weeks ago, I suddenly experienced a loss in my right ear, quite drastic I would say, like...

Punchy base for my WD25Ts (Spelling is correct)

Just thought I´d mention this.
I use WD25TEx, on spikes . I originally built them slightly shorter than Peter´s plans - he told me that would be Ok so long as I didn´t alter the baffle width. After...

Re: Interconnects

Hi Greg, that’s why I mentioned my use of single runs of 4 core van damme tour 2.5mm grade between xovers and boxes from Farnell. You can get it with 6 cores too, I seem to remember. Would be much...

Re: Interconnects

I´ve only just noticed this thread. I have WD25TEx with external crossovers, originally placed just behind the boxes as many people do. Then I remembered a side comment I had read by Les Wolstenholme...

Re: KEL84 Bi-coloured LED

When my E.E. mate rebuilt my OTT Puresound P10 valve phono into 2 boxes he somehow put a delay on the switching on of the full circuit so that the heaters had time to reach their operating temp...

Re: Punchy bass

Me again,
Just to say that each to his own and that it is probably just as well that Stuart now lives in a country with whose language he feels comfortable. I can’t help thinking that he would have...

Re: Punchy bass

Hi Greg, I think Stuart meant to say "Asi es la Vida" (Such is life or That´s life). I have lived in Spain for forty odd years and although my experience doesn´t mirror Stuart´s findings at all,...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Hi,
I have now replaced the AmpOhms and Russian MGBO and FT3 teflons that I had in my WD25TEx crossovers with the Russian K73-16s. No contest detail-wise. I have also replaced both coupling caps...

Re: WDXRS Supertweeters

Probably not much use to many here, but I recently lent my Taket Batpures to a mate who runs the Wd20s with the concentric cones and I am astounded by the improvement I hear, much, much greater than...

WD20T crossover schematic

Can anyone point me to the crossover schematic for the WD20T speakers. I’m about to order some new caps for my own WD25TEx and my mate’s wd20t to change from the original Soniqs. I can’t find the...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

I think I´ll have a shot with the K73-16s and Greg´s recs first. The prices are quite similar, especially if you choose the 63v Russian ones (I´ve just seen the 3.3uF ones for 1 dollar 20 cents each!...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Interesting, Greg.
Are they the 400v or the 630v ones ?
You already said you rated Solens for crossovers. many say they are very bright in amps etc. but not many talk about using them for Xovers....

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Hi Stuart,
My valve phono pre is littered with several Russian FT-3 Teflons but unfortunately they get no higher value than O.47uF @200v and given their physical size the best I could do in my...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Thanks Phil and Greg,
I suppose we all would like a straight fit these answer but as usual that is not the case. I guess the intelligent thing would be to go for a mid price cap from a reputable...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Thanks Phil. I guess I’ll just decide a sensible amount to spend and then read up on the web and choose something that tickles my fancy from one of the more reputable makes. Funnily enough Sugden, my...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

4 years on and I am wondering about trying some boutique caps in my WD25TEx. Just to see if anyone has tried alternative caps to the Soniqs, really.
I am just supposing , in my ignorance, that...

Re: recapping speakers

Falcon do replacement caps for the Alcap red and blacks. When I recapped my HB2s I went for them instead of buying some films because I wanted to change things as little as possible.

Re: what are you listening to now

I have that Clapton LP, bought in Spain. Excellent, by far the best Clapton recording I know. All the rest sound opaque and dull. I assumed it was a live at Budokan, under another sleeve.

Hi Phil, They look nice. Let us know your impressions on sound.
I took another tack ´cos I suspect the missus wouldn´t be too pleased with conspicuously taller speakers (my mistake was starting...
