Re: Psu iii mod

For what its worth Bob, the glassware board has plenty of capability for both Pre3 and Phono3, I use just one and I'm running the pre3 circuit with a resistor to get the volts to 250, and run the...

Re: Psu iii mod

Looks a bit like the choke "ringing" do you think? Or if its a "spike" at regular 100Hz intervals could it be switching noise from the bridge rectifier not being attenuated by the choke? And then...

Re: Hum from Pre3 Cathode/Follower and WDKT88

Check the kitchen light and its associated wiring would seem to me to be the first thing if all other possibilities have been eliminated. You may have detected a fault that might be safety related....

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

Pleased you seem to have a good result

Now then Richard, are you thinking about adapting a remote volume control into it? I'm just asking as I may have misunderstood your initial...

Re: Squeezer 1.5.1 App on Android 8

I confess that I have given up on the squeezebox as a dead loss.
Its ok as an interim source of internet radio but as the BBC have done the dirty and made their Hi res R3 feed inaccessible to the...

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

I haven,t got a copy of the KEL84 build instructions any more since I moved mine on.
But I'd be very surprised if the KEL84 as standard didn't have the 10 ohm earth lift resistor/0.1uF capacitor...

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

No I didn't say its unwarranted, as far as I am aware the Power amplifiers incorporate the 10 ohm plus 0.1uF earth lift as part of the design and therefore you should not need to add an additional...

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

Sorry Bob I wasn't clear about it, it's 2 diodes in parallel back to back i.e. anode to cathode in parallel with each other, it's a known way of "lifting" signal earth from mains/chassis earth whilst...

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

Are you asking on the basis of wanting to try fitting a remote volume control board and motorised pot Richard?

If that's the case drop me a PM and I'll assist in any way that I can.

Otherwise...

Re: WD Phono 3 R35

And conversely, if you'd been running the Phono3 on its own with the 1k resistor you'd be very unlikely to cause any damage.
Bobs on the button here.

Not such a budget performance

Hi guys.
I was intrigued by the good reviews of the new AT VM95 MM cartridges.
Most of you will know about them, 5 stereo snapin stylus options ranging from the basic 95C conical at 30 ish to the...

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

Thanks to Bob O, I received a nice working Motorised RK271 Alps "Blue" pot a couple of days ago
So seeing as I bottled Tonbridge this morning, and if you can see what I can out of the...

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

Ta Greg,
It looks like HFC are not restocking their Tocos stock due to issues with channel matching.
As you say, I'm more concerned with the motorised types.
If I were to use a "manual"...

Thanks Bob generous as ever and a gent to boot. I might drop you a PM, I do like the Alps RK271 "Blue" motorised as mine have all measured very well on the all important channel balance.
I just...

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

Has anyone knowledge of the TKD potentiometers sold by Hi Fi collective? They do a motorised version and the specs suggest a tighter tolerance item than the Alps RK271. They are also Conductive...

Let's hope a phoenix rises from the ashes.
There are those who think the "Vinyl revival" is an ephemeral event, I for one have a bit more confidence in the longer term market as there was always a...

Re: Wanted: 10H/180mV choke suitable for WAD 2A3PSE

just a thought, can Bluebell Audio help with a Hammond choke? But I guess you probably already went that way Greg? I used Hammond Chokes in my EL34 amp, and I think they are on the limit as they are...

I've...

Re: KT88 conversion to integrated

I've just wired up a Hi Fi Collective remote volume control board into the WD KT88 Amp.
I had to drill a 3mm hole in the top panel for a stand off and now its all tested I'll drill another to get...

Re: Phono II advice Please!

It may also be worth putting a small value resistor in series with the diodes as this will help form a low pass filter as I understand it. Apparently Schottkies and similar really fast diodes can...

Re: Phono II advice Please!

I might just try the bypass caps first before swapping the diodes for fast recovery types, they are supposed to damp down the switching spikes that can cause noise on the HT supply and bypass...
