Re: Lock Down

Personally, i'm not a fan of nuclear (fission) power, expensive and polluting if you take its whole life into account.
The high level waste left at the end has to be safety and securely stored for...

Re: Begging Letter 2

Some forums seem to carry them.
I think a joining fee is a non starter, why would people give money to a forum in which they have nothing invested?

Re: Lock Down

Hello all,

Although we certainly need to move away from polluting fossil fuels, I am not convinced that battery powered cars are a viable option. There are to my mind, too many practical...

Re: KEL80 Output Transformers

That is a good point Richard,

Like with the current situation, the information could be released at the discretion of the moderators. Even if the info is kept "private" it would still be a...

Re: KEL80 Output Transformers

John/Greg,

I would have thought that would be useful.
Anyone who either needs to repair an old WAD amp or indeed wants to do a recreation of one like Steve, can use the info to find a close...

Re: KiT6550 distortion and voltages off - any ideas please?

Hello John,

For peace of mind, you could swap the ECF80s over and see if the voltages follow the valve, (which they probably will) :)

Re: Worktop surface covering

I'm with Richard, proper antistatic bench matting would be my choice.(it is what I use)
It is tough, fairly heat and chemical resistant and slightly soft being synthetic rubber so it won't scratch...

Re: Lock Down

I no doubt got the timeline a bit wrong as I was not actively involved from the early days but regarding HiFi World, I was thinking of the DIY supplements which I would think were a very effective...

Re: Mundorf MCap EVO Aluminium Oil

Hello Bob,

I must admit to being confused and intrigued by your continued dislike of all things "boutique". You give the impression that you are in a continual battle to keep the high end of your...

Re: Lock Down

Hello all,

I'm sure the quietness of this forum is (as with everything) a combination of factors.
Maybe the lack of DIYers in the younger generations, my guess would be that I'm the youngest...

Re: How to Clean up faded speaker cones

Hello Colin,

Probably not what you want to hear but what about grills?
The cones are faded on my Tannoy DCs (paper cones) and look fairly awful. They look much nicer with the grills on in my...

Yes, what a waste,

I'm the same as you Philip, no immediate need so kept quiet for someone else to take them but would have had them rather than see them go to landfill:confused:

Re: Kat6550

Just in case there is any confusion here, the JJ 803s are not the same as the "standard" JJ 83. The 803s are JJs premium offering with claimed tighter tolerance and generally high spec.

They are...
