Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Interesting, Greg.
Are they the 400v or the 630v ones ?
You already said you rated Solens for crossovers. many say they are very bright in amps etc. but not many talk about using them for Xovers....

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Hi Stuart,
My valve phono pre is littered with several Russian FT-3 Teflons but unfortunately they get no higher value than O.47uF @200v and given their physical size the best I could do in my...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Thanks Phil and Greg,
I suppose we all would like a straight fit these answer but as usual that is not the case. I guess the intelligent thing would be to go for a mid price cap from a reputable...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Thanks Phil. I guess I’ll just decide a sensible amount to spend and then read up on the web and choose something that tickles my fancy from one of the more reputable makes. Funnily enough Sugden, my...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

4 years on and I am wondering about trying some boutique caps in my WD25TEx. Just to see if anyone has tried alternative caps to the Soniqs, really.
I am just supposing , in my ignorance, that...

Re: recapping speakers

Falcon do replacement caps for the Alcap red and blacks. When I recapped my HB2s I went for them instead of buying some films because I wanted to change things as little as possible.

Re: what are you listening to now

I have that Clapton LP, bought in Spain. Excellent, by far the best Clapton recording I know. All the rest sound opaque and dull. I assumed it was a live at Budokan, under another sleeve.

Interest check. Drivers and Xovers for WD25TEx

Ok. I live in the Canaries so freight for my WD25TExs would presumably be prohibitive back to the UK. Would anyone be interested in the drivers and external crossovers ? All lovingly cared for. the...

Re: Anyone ever tried his WD25T on stands ?

Hi Phil, They look nice. Let us know your impressions on sound.
I took another tack ´cos I suspect the missus wouldn´t be too pleased with conspicuously taller speakers (my mistake was starting...

Re: Anyone ever tried his WD25T on stands ?

No Yorkshire Post over here, I’m sorry to say. I mentioned glossies as an indicator of height.. I should have said “tha’ must tilt the bloody things back a bit if yer want a better impression of...

Re: Anyone ever tried his WD25T on stands ?

Nice one Phil Y. I still need to dig out one of mu sound bases but I have tried a pair of thickish House and Garden type glossies under my front spikes and the improvement is manifest with my...

Re: Chinese Stepped Attenuators

I have fitted them to my Sugden A21SE and my Creek OBH21SE phones amp, the former 50k Log and the latter a 20K one. They knock the Alps Blues into touch: resolution is the word I think, a veil of...

Anyone ever tried his WD25T on stands ?

I am thinking of digging out my old Mana Sound Bases for use with my WD25TEx. Why ? Firstly I have just learned that Yamaha 1000s were considered bookshelf/standmounts back in the day and secondly I...

Re: WDXRS Supertweeters

I have decided to fit the batpures semi.permanently on the rear baffle firing upwards and maybe slightly tilted back toward the rear wall. I shall drill through the back of the speaker’s ”neck” and...

Re: WDXRS Supertweeters

After testing the Batpures with my WD25Tex this weekend my conclusions are :
1. Better connected to the tweeter outputs of my external crossovers than the full range input on said crossovers-
2. I...

Re: WDXRS Supertweeters

Hi,
Well I got some Batpures and I tried them yesterday. Stuck on the lower part of the Millennium face plate via the double sided tape and thin cables trailing back to the tweeter output terminals...

Re: New WD25Tex build

Hi,
Nice job. I also have Wd25TExs in a sandwich of particular board and mdf skin which I had sprayed by a pro.

From your photos I take it you meant to say Jantzen capacitors rather than Jensens....

Re: KLS14 speakers - any updates ?

Has anyone discovered an easy way to extricate the Seas woofers from their seatings on the 25Ts. I read somewhere of using a bolt with a nut and "threading them into the holes around the rims and...

Re: Internal cabling on the 25t

Assuming it’s the cable that came with the kit it’s the WD OFC cable which came in 2 categories regarding the number of strands, the electric blue sheathed one was for the woofers and the gold...

Hi Greg,
Let us know when you try the Batpure thingies with your Millenniums. I might try a pair. What´s to lose at that price ?

Re: WDXRS Supertweeters

Who knows? 2.70 metres is not especially high, I don’t think. Maybe I’ll dig my Mana floorstand stands out of retirement to emulate the plinth I never fitted to my 25s.

Re: WDXRS Supertweeters

Does anyone notice that supertweeters can give more height to imaging between speakers. Does anyone else with wd25ts wish lead singers weren’t all midgets ?
