Re: Dark Voice 336SE h/amp

After making a few ruck-ups aka earthing the bourne pot, not tightening the screw connection for the left channel and soldering the wrong connection for the switch all of which left me really pissed...

Re: Simple Mains Filter and Spike Suppressor

This problem is caused by using the cheapskate ring main, illegal in Europe. All electrics are via spurs.

Here's a thought why not supply the juice for a sound system by using batteries. Deep...

Re: recapping speakers

Re: recapping speakers

Thought about trying bipolars and bypassing with 2.2uF K73-16s. reason being the bipolars are cheap and having used the Russian caps for bypass i know they work.

So saw that the parts Express...

Bob,

Re: huanshop2015

On one cheap negative buy, which I can still use after cleaning. If I had bought the same wire from the UK the postage would have been x 3 times more expensive and that would'nt include the cost of...

Re: huanshop2015

Oh dear,
received the wire from China - wound very small and badly, presumably to keep the package/price as small as possible. The larger gauge wire was discoloured, both lots will need cleaning...

Re: tonbridge audiojumble

Greg,
that's your personal situation not a general one. I know lots of young people both here and other countries who, for better or worse are buying vinyl and CDs because they like owning physical...

Re: recapping speakers

Thanks for the replies.

I've looked in detail at the recs. from the Serbian on the Heybrook thread and it's worth trying his idea about lowering the values on the mid. His assertion that 250V caps...

recapping speakers

It's time to recap my Heybrook Sextets, getting into active x/overs will have to wait.

The original caps are IWC and Alcap. The IWC are an easy replacement using K73-16 and potentially I can use...

Re: tonbridge audiojumble

Andy,
your comment about what the local council charge echos my comment about what Brighton & Hove stiff (and I'm sure other councils charge) car boot organisers for.

What you pay to get to...

Re: tonbridge audiojumble

Wow,
I could'nt believe what Andy wrote, so looked it up online - you have to pay and plenty to go and see what's for sale - what a rip-off country the UK has become. I saw an article in my old...

Re: BADA PH12 head phone amp hum

Mick,
just remove the stupid little fan, it's a complete waste of time. If you undo the bolts that hold the mains TX you will be able to lift the tranny, that immediately allows the cut-outs above...

Re: BADA PH12 head phone amp hum

Colin,
for what they cost try the K73-16 caps, I wouldn't touch PIOs ever again. I looked at the OTL you posted. Here's another idea - take a look at the Dark Voice 336, there are loads of visuals...

Re: BADA PH12 head phone amp hum

Colin,
I'm just on the way out but tomorrow I'll post an Italian site that shows the layout. Very good idea to separate the power from the signal section, should be standard.

Hybrids can be the...

Mick,
I never had hum problems even when stock. This h/amp is worth persevering with. You had hum, please explain. The supplied Chinese tubes shouldn't be the source but try others. It should be...

The Chinese made alu Chassis is so chunky/heavy - I had to ream out the knobs to take the Bourne pot and selector switch and find some fibre washers as spacers but...

so you've had a few bad dealings with the Chinese so all Chinese are bad. Well I only had (1) bad buy and one (1) no show - $2.5 pair of eye shades and got a refund for both. Everything else...

Re: Dark Voice 336SE h/amp

Greg,
I see on another forum that at one time you found the S/C at that time, 4 years ago, it was the best volume control by a margin.

It would appear that the kit you ordered didn't perform....

Seriously up rated values

There are more than a few on this forum who were serious about their sound systems way before the likes of me (mid 90s).

For some reason which I c an't remember now I virtually stopped buying...
