Re: WAD KaT88

Thanks Wiesiek, You have a PM back.

The Kat88 isn't one I've built. I'll be honest I'm not really a solder monkey :) But a friend is. The example I've got I've been very impressed with for some...

Hi Guys, I'm looking for the circuit diagram for the Kat88 ... those links seem to be dead. Any chance of reposting? Ta.

Hi Guys,

Never built something like this before, but have a friend who is fairly experienced and willing to help.

I wondered if anyone had ever come across this preamp, these kits or had any...

Re: Some Valvey Questions and can you help me identify my amp??

Uhuh. Stateside prices seem to be a lot cheaper than UK. Do these thing usually survive the flight (they seem very delicate)? ie looking at the Svetlana 6L6GC - seem to be about £17 or so each...

Re: Some Valvey Questions and can you help me identify my amp??

Other than the date of manufacture, that's exactly what I've got.

Richard. Blimey that's a lot of info. Mine are the ones you describe as 6p(n)3ce (and a flick through ebay, suggest they can be...

Re: Some Valvey Questions and can you help me identify my amp??

Ok Rich, thanks. That makes sense. So basically if and when these ones go (or if I just fancy trying something else) so long as a get a matched set of 5881s we're in business. Now something else...

Re: Some Valvey Questions and can you help me identify my amp??

I'll bear that in mind. I've been told that some valves need some adjustment when new valves are introduced and others adjust automatically. Any idea how that applies to this design?

Re: Some Valvey Questions and can you help me identify my amp??

My ability is pretty much zero when it comes to these thing, but I have a friend who is fairly expert (I'm going to get him to take a look). I'm mainly interested in how they sound ... turntables...

Re: Some Valvey Questions and can you help me identify my amp??

Thanks Rich, I'll get it checked. The pre section of the Densen is/was passive but that really didn't work well, whereas the Sansui pre is active and owrks a dream, would that indicate that there...

Some Valvey Questions and can you help me identify my amp??

I'll try and cut it short, but its a longish story, so my apologies.

About a year ago, I found myself in possession of some Yamaha NS1000Ms, which were so much better in so many ways than the...

Re: Larff, I fell off the sofa!

I suspect they'll sell stacks of them. The demographic QVC is aimed at is that section of society, market researchers might call "fools" - and you know what they say about "fools" and their money. ...

Re: Cartridge retipping - Opinions needed

I have to say if I was racking up 1000 hours a year I'd be tempted to "slum" it with something like a Denon. Expensive game otherwise.

Re: Simply Vinyl?

Er. Its not true. I've had a number of Simply Vinyl pressings in the past and haven't had an issue with a single one of them. Sound fine, look fine, well packaged etc.
