Re: Copsaw's TT

Greg

How are you getting on with the Audiomods arm? I admit to being tempted by one!

Cheers

Re: Modified RB250

Hi Stuart

My Kenwood KD-770D has the corian-type motor block, screwed into a cheapish chipboard plinth. I think the motor is the same as used on the alloy spider models. Acrylic would suit...

Re: ok I Bought it ... what now :D

Those Telefunkens were quite old, and very well used. I would definitely experiment with other ECC82s - the Radio Technique Mil spec ones are quite superb and a good starting point. The only duffer...

Re: Modified RB250

Stuart

Would you have a picture of your Kenwood deck on its slate slab? I'm tempted to replinth my KD-770D, and am keen to see what others have done, successfully. Plan A is to have an acrylic...

Re: ok I Bought it ... what now :D

George

I'm glad you're having some fun with the amp. The best small tubes that I ever tried with it were RCA 6AU6; and the Telefunkens aside, Radio Technique ECC82 which Watford Valves still sell...

Re: Off Topic. Freeview recorders

I have had a Humax PVR-9200T for a couple of years, and it's rather good, and very easy to use. Prices now are a bit lower than what I paid, and unless HDMI is a must, it has to be worth looking at....

Re: okki nokki record cleaning machine

I'd second Greg on this - Art du Son cleaner is very reasonably priced when you see how far it goes. Also, I am convinced that records do sound better cleaned with this stuff than with the alcohol...

Re: Kenwood DD Turntable

Fitting a Heavy Kit is perhaps a bit extreme for the Kenwood but it actually works, giving a tighter feeling to bass sounds. A bit like fitting it to the Spacedeck, in fact. The armboard is African...

Re: Kenwood DD Turntable

See the picture below. IMO it is a twee piece of flimsy engineering, in comparison with any of the arms that I have used, eg Linn Ittok, Ekos, Technoarm, Spacearm. That's my opinion, of course -...

Re: Kenwood DD Turntable

I do have it, and it's a horrible flimsy rattly thing which I never intended to use, particularly as the cueing circuit on the deck doesn't work (no power off the main PCB to the solenoid). I would...

Re: Kenwood DD Turntable

There's a big nut on the underside of the motor unit, which is a speckled off-white corian type affair. Is it just a matter of undoing that nut, or are there pitfalls? Part of me wants to let it...

Re: Kenwood DD Turntable

There isn't a hole for oil. Interestingly, with the platter removed, if the start switch is pressed, the platter spindle shunts back and forth. Put the platter on and it runs smoothly in the...

Kenwood DD Turntable

I've finally got around to mounting a Technoarm onto my old Kenwood KD770D, and it sounds rather respectable with a Kontrapunkt B slung in the front. I was wondering, however, how free-spinning the...

Re: Strain gauge cartridge

It's at the Heathrow Show. Can't say I was overly impressed, but the record player looked unfamiliar, and hotel rooms are notorious for bad mains etc, not to mention taste in music, quality of the...

Re: Contemplating a return to vinyl

I had one of the original Bix turntables, which I fitted with a Technoarm and Kontrapunkt B. The quality of the acrylic and metal parts like armboards was exceptional. There were problems with the...

Re: Fakedeck DD?

I know - but it's not necessarily inferior; however it's much easier to play around with.

I also reckon that a small degree of decoupling is good, so the armboard that I will make for the...

Re: Fakedeck DD?

That's not really a problem - it can easily be dismantled and if necessary put back together again. The motor block would go really easily into a more solid CLD type plinth, but first I shall see...

Re: Fakedeck DD?

Which Kenwood DD? Mine is the KD-770D, with a chipboard plinth. Your positive experience might just spur me into action to get a decent arm onto it and find out if it's any good.

Cheers,

Re: What’s the best material for covering sound absorbing panels?

As long as the covering material is porous, it will work, particularly the open weave hessian type materials that are typically used on pre-finished commercial acoustic panels. So, avoid dense,...

Re: TV Aerial Amplifiers

I got a 4-way amplifier from Maplin for about £25 to feed the main rooms in my house, and it works very well, with no loss of Freeview channels and according to the Humax PVR9200T, 100% signal...

Re: Goldring 2xxx Series MM Cartridges

What is the difference between the 1042 and Reson Reca? As far as I can see they have the same Gyger S stylus profile, so is there something fundamentally different in the way they are designed?
