Re: K5881 Mk1 mods

I was going to expand on the classic car theme, but would the "car" bit of this thread be better transferred to the "coffee bar" section ?

Re: K5881 Mk1 mods

Hi Baggo.

I entirely understand your point of view on the matter, and to some extent I agree with you.

BUT, given the choice, I think that a modern replica would be my choice, and an affordable...

Re: Any suggestions re; KiT6550 brightness?

I'd advocate changing the Jensens.

I had a similar problem with my Audionote (copy) pre amp.

Re: PSU III transformer information.

Excellent idea Richard. I've did that myself on my single ended Mosfet amp bias supply when low current draw was evident.

25K @ 10ma = 2.5W, so 5W (or more) to be safe.

I'd use a 25W Arcol...

Push pull amps.

I had a short listening session with a World Designs 6550 push pull amp the other day, and I was pleasantly surprised at the "fullness" of the presentation.

So, today I am reacquainting myself...

Re: KiT/KaT6550 and fuse blowing inrush current

On the Kit 6550 amp I am working on the 6550 cathode resistors are 560R, but the parts list says they should be 500R.

That's R35/36/37/38.

Was that a period modification ?

I'm expecting a Kit6550 for examination and repair and have two questions.

Has anyone here ever checked if the anode / transformer resistance of the dual rectifiers is as per data sheet ? Should...

Re: How is everyone’s hearing?

My ringing is in stereo. (both ears).

Most of the time I hardly notice it, but now, just thinking about it, the "volume" sounds louder.

No problems Bob.

Just seems a shame it may never get used again.

Re: Musical Fidelity A100

I'd take it off your hands if you've got no further use for it ?:)

I'll have to check the dimensions and see if it would fit in the BMW top box.:D
