Ooooerrr, I've never had one go OC TBH Bob. Is the secondary going open per chance? Grid leak from the 1st amplification stage popping it open? That'd be my guess.

Bit an aside question but.... on WD's Phono 3, are the heaters elevated on a DC level per chance? If yes, any idea how high? Ta.

No prob's G-Popz, its got 3 secondaries @ 390V CT, 27V and 6.3V CT. 240V primary natch.

I'd need to trawl through the build instructions to find out current spec on each winding. I was hoping...

Heheheheh, I've built a WD Phono3 for the project room system. Haven't powered it up or installed it yet as I'm a foul-weather tweaker and like playing outdoors lots during summer :)

Older, wiser, hairier. But still using the Lite Audio Phono stage in the mains system for now. Its noisy as in 'hissy' but works. The MC stage switched in is too noisy for me with efficient speakers...

I'm happy not covering the Mains TX TBH, it runs quite warm anyway and is on for long periods of time. Sited...

Eeeek! Its died. The mains TX has popped. There had always been a very slight indentation on the insulation covering the winding where it had been clobbered at some time during storage before I had...
