Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Where the value allows, I used the 400v version as they are more than adequate. They are smaller which is helpful and if you buy through Falcon Acoustics, can be obtained matched within 2% of the...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

My WAD KLS3ís are now fitted with the Seas Millennium tweeter. I built the treble filter with Mills resistors and Solen polypropylene caps and the high register sound is truely magnificent. The best...

Re: Crossover components rolling ?

Yes, itís a budget and space thing. If, like mine your crossovers are external, you have more flexibility as size can be accommodated more easily. Golden rule is replace any electrolytic caps with...

Re: Simple Mains Filter and Spike Suppressor

Heater wiring for twin rectifiers

When wiring the heaters of twin rectifiers such as the pair of 5U4ís used in WAD 6550 and KeL34, is there any noise reduction benefit in wiring the heaters out of phase?

Many thanks in...

Re: Simple Mains Filter and Spike Suppressor

+1. Good reply, Phil. I also fitted this filter to all my amps and feel there was an overall benefit in terms of keeping the noise floor as low as possible.

Re: WAD Kt 88 our integrated schematic

They certainly are although not all schematics published in the DIY Supplement were the correct final version. The articles were often based on a prototype and there were further adjustments and...

Re: WAD Kt 88 our integrated schematic

I donít understand why this has become an ongoing discussion. In his first paragraph above, Matthew (proprietor of WD) has clearly stated they hold the rights to the current WD models and all...

Re: recapping speakers

Yep, high value polypropylene caps are not cheap and large. I Ďve just rebuilt my KLS3 Mk3 (Peter Comeau revision) crossovers. Total of six 50uF caps. Ouch! Needed a big box for external application...

Re: Fixing tear in HDA driver

I would try an application of glue on both sides of the cone. The glue needs to retain a bit of viscosity as it dries so it forms a slightly raised scab like covering over the split. Allow to fully...

Re: WAD K5881 modded to take EL38s

All your photo’s show monoblok amps that have no visual relevance to the original 5881 design. Going with the similarity you appear to be relying on and God knows what that is, how about getting into...

Re: WAD K5881 modded to take EL38s
