After making a few ruck-ups aka earthing the bourne pot, not tightening the screw connection for the left channel and soldering the wrong connection for the switch all of which left me really pissed off, got things right and what-do-you know - it works.

Bass is outstanding but the top end is congested. I don't think this is down to the S/C, I think this is down to the D/V. Until I get the x/overs sorted on the Heybrook Sextets i won't be able to use the Parasound Z3.

Chris advised me to change the 47K resistor on the output PCB for a 220K, not sure this is right. What I do know is that going louder, does'nt induce distortion.

Greg - get in touch with Chris and sort something out - this is a very good preamp.

Finally got the caps I need to change the o/put. I shall change the o/put wire as well at the same time. 100uF/100V bipolars, I will also try various values of K73-16s to find the optimum combo.

The hum that many D/V owners talk about is so faint now, I have to turn the S/C up to full to hear it.

Also my D/V does'nt run hot, another problem that many owners talk about.

A question for those who bypass.

I'm taking out the o/put caps 3 x 10uF/250V per side and replacing with 1 x Audyn ERA rough foil 100uF/100V per side and yes i know that if a valve fails I'm risking the cans as the B+ is 193V (measured), actual operating voltage across the o/put caps is 70-80V.

I want to use a 1uF/400V K73-16 which should do wonders for the top end - the question is - should I solder this cap to the Audyn or solder it separately to one of the vacated positions?
