I can bring a HFW modified Rotel RQ970BX, and a WAD KLPP1. The Phono II is already well catered for. What deck/arm/cart combo are we going to settle on? Nick's deck looks a good specification or should we have a 401 or two for comparison? I can supply either the Rondo Bronze or a mid-life use Kontra B if needed.

Martin,

The BB is set to allow 24 hours for edits. You need to copy the post every day to make changes (shouldn't need to be every day once posting settles down).

I'll bring a WAD PSUII powered version of Andrews CCS loaded 6072A + 88 stage.

I can also bring a Cornet 2 with Jupiter caps and MOX resistors (hmm).

Maybe I'll bring the SS Hart stage, in case we want a discrete SS comparison.

I'll bring my S&B TX-103's as well as they are set up for 1:10 so we have the same TX's for 1:10 and 1:20 (Andrew's). This alone should be interesting, what effect other than voltage do these ratios have?

We haven't set a start time but my preference is mid to late morning, I simply can't be there at 9:00 as I'll be travelling with my family who I need to drop in Bourne first.

Hi Guys,

We need to get a bit organised and focused if we are going for a two day event. We really need to decide in the next week if this is a one or two day event.

I've made some inquiries at the local Travelodge Martin has suggested and it has no immediate vacancies for the 8th.

I've booked two rooms in the 'Blue Cow' in the village and they can accommodate up to another 6 hetrosexual males who don't mind room sharing but don't want to share the same bed! You might be roughing it a bit on a futon. Price will be about £45 B&B, but that might be variable according to what you end up booking. They can provide evening meals from 6 to 9.30pm. It would make sense for this is to be our base outside of the event times. Don't forget the offer to really rough it and camp in the hall overnight.

Obviously if we stay over, we want to socialise in the evening. I've not checked the other B&B availability in the village as advertised on the link Martin has given, but if this is going to come together, we need to rapidly address this. Therefore, lets have a quick decision on if this is a one or two day event and if two day, get something booked pronto.

Best wishes,

Greg

Can I have one of those beds please Greg?

In termns of what I shall be doing. I'll bring my front end in case we get around to anything more to do with vinyl than just the phono stages on day 1. As has been suggested a deck comparrison could be worthwhile considering the traffic in this place.

For speakers I am fairly decided that I shall sell the Ariel's and have already butchered the crossover as donor bits for what I'm doing now. If I have got anywhere I'll bring my new speakers for the second day. Happy to have James's as the reference on day one.

I am aiming to active cross and biamp for the future using smaller amps aimed at one driver a piece designed for the frequency response demanded of them, so the 212 project is shelved. That won't be coming for day 2.

Hi Paul,

I've booked two single rooms, one for myself and the other for James with the proviso that if the event is only one day I can cancel the rooms without charge provided I inform them by 1st March. I'm not going to organise this for others although I'm hoping Martin will come in here and do a bit of co-ordinating. Accommodation is obviously limited in the village although as Martin has advertised, there are two other local guest houses. Obviously we don't want to be too spread out. As the Blue Cow is the real ale pub Martin recommends which will also do evening meals, it would make sense for this to be the social meeting place and obviously people won't want to drive, hence my suggestion that the one or two day event issue is sorted soonest so if it is two day, others staying over can make bookings. The nearby Travelodge according to their website has no vacancies. I did contact their call handling who stated that rooms might still be available but wanted me to confirm a booking before they would make the local inquiry on vacancies and even if I then cancelled the booking minutes later, I would pay a cancellation charge of £9. To me that is crap customer service and I was not prepared to embrase their methods. Anyway, they have no restaurant facilities. Basically if punters are up for a two dayer, make an accommodation booking now and arrange terms for cancellation if we only do one day or you don't want to stay over regardless.

I've PM'd you regarding the Ariels.

Best wishes,

Greg

I've booked room 5 which has two single beds at £65 between two with breakfast. I'll assume Nick will share with me, I phoned him and he's out, so if he gets back and misses this post or thinks my feet may smell too much.... wtahc thius space

Room 4 is available at this moment in time, which can put up 3 persons.

It looks like we got us a convoy!
