Default Arm And cartridge matching help

Hi All

Well it’s been a few years since I last did this so need some help here Lads
I am rebuilding my AR EB 101 Turntable too solid Plinth but I seem to have forgotten the way too mach arm and cartridge I am still using the stock arm if I remember correctly a cart weight between 3g and 9g is recommended can anyone advice me on this Plus which is the best cart to have of the two

The Arm effective mass 12 grams
Goldring 1042 Cartridge Specifications

Cartridge Weight 6.3g

Ortofon 530 MkII MM Cartridge

Cartridge Weight 5g

Mechanically speaking, either will work, so I guess it's down to which one you prefer the sound of.

I just wasn’t sure about the arm mass and cart Compliance matching as for which one to get this may be difficult as I cant get to here then so was hoping someone may have listened too both so I can form an idea of how the two sounded

Hi All
Can anyone recommend a MM Cartridge

for about £140 tops for arm mass 12g and works well with phone II the last cart I had was a
Audio-Technica AT-F3

I would have gone M coil but cant afford the step-up TXs at the moment

Hi Colin

I've got a 1042, and for the money it is a very good cartridge.
I've had a 520 MkII and too be honest found it too harsh in the top end - 530 has a different stylus profile, so may be better in this respect.

I'm currently running a DNM Reson Reca MM, which is a MUCH better toleranced version of the 1042, so you can see where my preferences lie.
