It is actually remarkable, but today I purchased the remaster of Sgt Pepper's on LP in, wait for it, Sainsbury's. A very good pressing, but there was a long way to go in learning how mixing for stereo works. More disconcerting than I expected; but the music remains timeless. Maybe I was remembering the mono from AM radio in the 1960s. Anyway, chuffed is one way to describe how I feel, not least because vinyl is back.

If this carries on they will bring back 'Are You Being Served?'. Oh.

I've been listening to CW Stoneking.

It's somewhat derivative musically, but I love the guys voice and the old sounding recordings. I think he's got some tasty old analogue gear to make recordings like this.

I've been digging through the archives this evening.

Helen Watson - Blue Slipper
Rosie Vela - Zazu
Little Feat - Sailin' Shoes

All on vinyl.

Talking Heads "Remain In Light". On vinyl through my WDpre3, Phono3 and WD88VA. Other than sounding generally awesome its amazing how well the system presents all the complex rhythms

Stranglers, crikey that takes me back to my first foreign holiday 1977 in Benidorm

Ironically I've just been playing John Lee Hooker Don't Look Back, great late night album

I went to see them at Cambridge Corn Exchange that year and also took my first flight abroad to Marseille to explore the South of France, went with 2 friends and we booked a return flight for the duration of one month, I was the only one that made it back on that booked flight..One friend spent all his money in 2 weeks and hiked back to board a ferry to Dover and the other spent another 2 months there with some hippies.

Haha yes I had friends like that. Peaches was playing everywhere that summer. Fortunately we were on a package though so we got the flight back! Great that they're still going
